Museo de Oro

The Museo de Oro in Bogota contains an excellent collection of mostly gold artificats that were crafted by the idigenous peoples of Colombia. The collection contained some very intricate and delicate pieces using that were formed using methods that were novel to the Spanish conquestidors at the time.

Upon closer observation, one can see fingerprints imprinted on this piece.

These fingerprints on this pendent and others led Europeans to believe that the idigenous groups moulded and modeled gold directly with their hands. The fingerprints were actually left in the cast molds that were used when employing the lost wax method.
